Well, United Methodist church, this is not going away. What are you going to do about it? What is more important to you? Will you adhere to doctrine, or will you let this happen because it's what Jesus would do?

3/14: The WTF episode

Alex Lambert seems like a sweet kid. I'd like to have seen how he improved as the show went on.

Written by my friend, Troy Tempest on Facebook

There are certain moments one never forgets: your first kiss; the shock of being on the receiving end of a good punch to the face; the elation upon realizing that you’ve just saved a life. And, if you were born in the right decade, the first time you heard about AIDS as an untreatable death sentence. For those of us coming of age in the window between AIDS’ first christening in 1986 and breakthrough combination therapy ten years later, sex equaled death.

HIV was killing my generation. The first person with AIDS I ever saw was as an undergrad in1989. The tall, thin body walked out of the AIDS help center in baggy sweats and a soiled gray t-shirt. His face had sunken inward on the sides. A pre-med major, I realized I might be pulled into a war with the virus that caused the student to stumble across the quad.

Fifteen years later I was living that prophecy )

Would everyone please take a moment and sign this petition for me?  Even if you don't care for skating or don't wish to attend, those of us who would like to go would absolutely love to see Johnny there.  But Smuckers has deemed him not family-friendly because he is just way too out of the closet for their tastes.

In Johnny's defense, he has said nothing but words of support especially towards children; letting them know that it's okay to be who and how they are; to be respectful of everyone regardless of sexual orientation, religion, race, etc.   Loves his Mom & Dad, cleans his room, and eats all his peas.

Thanks!!

Background (Preamble):
Johnny Weir is a 3-time US National Champion, a World Bronze Medalist, a 2-time Grand Prix Final Bronze Medalist, and a 2-time Olympian.

Johnny Weir is a popular skater with families and fans of all ages. He represents strong family values, including respect for individuality and supporting the self-esteem of all children.

We would like to know if perhaps Johnny has not been invited on the Stars on Ice Tour because the sponsors deem him to be "not family friendly." We would like to have an explanation of why this popular Olympian is not on the tour.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on Stars on Ice and its sponsors to include figure skater Johnny Weir on its tour of United States cities.

I don't like to put up a lot of personal information in a public post, and future posts about my relationship with Ron may be locked, but since you've asked...

He works for the state parks system.

Has a grown son in college.

Likes to be outdoors.

Has great neighbors - and is a great neighbor.

Paid for treatment of a dog he didn't own after she was hit by a car.

Later adopted the dog from the neglectful owner.

Does not own a computer - OMG!

Is a good cook!

What I really like about how this has progressed in a very short time is that we blew past the whole "put your best (or even false) self forward" stage. He knows that I'm a gay rights activist, a costumer, and a pack rat, and he's still around. ;)

I discovered this internet show last year. And I'm going to pimp it here because it's fantastic.

Michael Slezak and company are snarky (sometimes mean) and funny, and their opinions are pretty smart, IMHO. Early on last year, Slezak predicted an Allison/Adam/Kris final three (They did not like Gokey; they also do not like Kara.), so he got it pretty close.

Here are the last three episodes.

2/13 (with a bonus "Kradison" appearance)

2/19

2/28

BTW, they will get interviews with departing contestants starting with the top twelve.
